Sensitive Teeth: Causes and Solutions

Tooth sensitivity — a sharp, sudden pain triggered by hot, cold, sweet or acidic foods — is very common and usually treatable once we find the cause.
What causes sensitivity?
Common causes include worn enamel, exposed roots from gum recession, cavities, cracked teeth, or worn fillings. Grinding your teeth and very acidic diets can make it worse.
What can help
Desensitising toothpaste, a softer brush and gentler technique often help mild cases. Where there's decay, a worn filling or a crack, treating the underlying problem resolves the sensitivity for good.
See us if it persists
If sensitivity lingers or is severe, book a checkup — it can be an early sign of a problem that's easier to fix sooner rather than later.
